My name is Josiah Lawson, and I’m a Christian student-athlete at Morehouse College, majoring in Computer Science and playing basketball. My faith in God is the foundation of everything I do; it shapes how I approach the game, academics, and life itself.
Matthew 5:16
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in the Stone Mountain area. Basketball became part of my life at the age of three, when my dad began coaching me and my older brother. From recreation leagues to AAU basketball with Atlanta Select, I developed not only my skills but a deep love for the game. As I got older, I competed on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, gaining experience at a high level of competition and learning what it takes to perform under pressure.
I played my high school basketball at Tucker High School, where I became one of the top scorers in DeKalb County history and established myself as one of the premier players in Georgia. My journey through high school taught me the importance of consistency, humility, and faith, lessons that continue to guide me as I represent Morehouse both athletically and academically.
I’ve been a strict vegetarian my entire life and have never eaten meat, with plans to transition to a fully vegan lifestyle after I graduate college. Health and wellness are areas I take very seriously, they reflect the same discipline, consistency, and balance that I apply to my training, academics, and daily life.
I give all credit for my success to God and to my family, who have supported and pushed me every step of the way. My goal is to use my platform as a student-athlete to inspire others, represent my faith with integrity, and make a lasting impact wherever I’m placed.
